I have been working in the tech industry since the late 90s. There have been 4 stages of my career to date
Early Days
I left college early to become Ireland's youngest National Student Union officer later finishing my degree and postgraduate studies in the Irish Management Institute, Munster Technological University and Technological University Dublin
Intro the tech world
Prior to my own companies I was Sales Director with Relate Software, a Deloitte Fast50 company. I managed the Accountants Division in Sage Ireland, I setup the Irish branch of UK specialist accountancy practice 3Sixty Accountants and I ran Customer Services for Apex Software.
Launching Lucey Tech & the Lucey Fund
Founded in 2008 we were early adopters of Cloud computing and were one of AWS’s early customers.
We built numerous products and in 2013 we were the Deloitte Fast50 Rising Star as the fastest growing young tech company in the Republic of Ireland.
In 2011 I founded the Lucey Fund (www.lucey.fund).
Through the Lucey Fund we invested in over 140 tech companies. These were primarily super-early startups right at the ideas stage. We stopped taking on startups in 2018 and we have been managing these investments since. Some of our good ones would include Kollect which IPO'd in Dec 2019
These days
We now focus on acquiring older or unloved tech companies. Recent acquisitions include:
